Short Poetry Books- Disasterpiece by Meetali Kutty

Disasterpiece

My first poetry book was written during December. It helped me pen down a lot of thoughts and feelings I was having. It ranges from sad, morbid poetry to uplifting, love filled poetry to showcase the collection of human emotions we all experience.

This book is a one of the short poetry books that I’ve written and it just comprises  21 poems, and it’s 35 pages long. However, I feel like there’s a pooem that will resonate with every person.

My Personal Favourite

My personal favourite one which is Disasterpiece which is about embracing chaos and coming out triumphant. There are a lot of thoughts that went through my head while writing this poetry book and I am really proud and happy to share it with all of you and to say that it is available to buy.

I would love it if you picked up a copy and let me know your thoughts on the writing or what worked for you or what didn’t. I wouldn’t call Disasterpiece a love poetry book but love is at the heart and centre of it and it shows in every poem that you go through. So without further ado, I am going to share one of my favourite poems from the book here.

Pedestal

You put me up on a pedestal,

And I looked down,

You wanted me to lift you up,

But you pulled me to the ground

When I wiped off the dirt,

I wasn’t the same,

So broken it hurt,

No longer the porcelain doll in your game

Your dreams shattered one by one,

And you saw me for my reality,

The clouds blocked out the sun,

Our love almost became a casualty

But slowly you started to love the clay,

We made together from mud,

Cos I am no goddess, no not today,

I am just human, flesh and blood

I find poetry a difficult genre to assimilate and write. I think it’s amazing that you have a full book on poems. You have articulated chaos and acceptance in a beautiul way.

Poetry can cause such strong emotions with just few words. Reading your review I felt like you picked up this book because you connected with the words. Will keep it in my TBR.
